Hong Kong 2012: Part One

This post is long overdue. I sincerely apologize to those who were waiting for it. It’s been almost a month and a half into the new school year which means I’m swamped with lesson planning and what not. I certainly miss my trip up to Hong Kong, mainly because I miss dressing up to cold weather. I’ve yet to finish uploading the photos of Facebook, so please pardon the lack of photos.

We went straight to our hostel at Fortress Hill from the airport to dump our stuff. Small but cosy hostel. Wifi was very strong because I could still download movies on my iPad mini. Heh. The first day was pretty much just getting ourselves acquainted to the city, and hunt for halal food. Alhamdulillah we managed to find the street where all the halal food were at. Boy were we famished!

Nearly wanted to buy camera equipment there but I was scared I’d get conned or something.

This was a ginormous bookshop opposite the Turkish restaurant we had lunch at. Too bad we didn’t go in. It would have been dangerous though.

Day Two – 25 Dec 2012: DISNEYLAAAAANNDDDD and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Transport: MTR which is super fast and efficient

A funny story happened while we were on the way to Disneyland, though. We needed to transfer to another train at an interchange, like when we change at City Hall here? So suddenly everyone was running for the Disneyland train. I looked at Aisyah, puzzled, wondering why everyone was running. She grabbed my hand and ran towards the train as well. We came in, we knew why everyone was running. Let the pictures do the talking.

I thought this buildings looked a bit like the old Geylang. It’s kinda scary though, how small and cramped the apartments are.

Day Three – 26 Dec 2012: Ngong Ping and Citygate Outlets

Transport: MTR and Cable car

We headed to Ngong Ping island via MTR, then took the cable car. Aisyah insisted on taking the crystal cabin, which of course terrified me. I have a terrible fear of heights (and people respond saying “BUT YOU’RE TALL!!” – being tall doesn’t mean I can’t be afraid of heights -.-). I was pretty much stuck on my seat, and didn’t move around but Aisyah and the family who shared the cabin with us were happily walking around the small cabin snapping photos. Oh well. At least I conquered my fear of heights. Haha.

My model for the trip. I’ve got loads of photos of Aisyah which I have yet to upload.

Cute doggie!

I really wish I could write more but I think this would suffice for now. Let me clear my work stuff first before I continue on with part two.
